Visit Durango is evolving from a Destination Marketing Organisation focused on the “heads in beds” mantra to a Destination Management Organisation focused on community engagement. They are more transparent, are the first DMO to use Citizenlab (normally used by governmental entities) to increase engagement from local communities and developed workshops to increase stakeholder engagement. As a result, users on engage.Durango.org have increased from 10 to 100, on track to hit the 1,650 goal, and feedback from workshops has been incredibly promising.
