The Azraq Wetland Reserve, established in 1978 is home to a wonderful Oasis, which has been a major station for migratory birds on the African-Eurasian flyway. However, due to water pumping, the water body that used to be a thriving ecological hotspot dwindled alarmingly to cover 0.04 % of the area it used to cover. Through exemplary management, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) management to rehabilitate the oasis to 10% of what it used to be, while creating economical and educational opportunities for local communities.
