The eco-hotel Casa Lamat, in Bacalar, Mexico, located in the middle of the jungle, was inaugurated in 2014. IT calls for conscious tourism, and has been an example in sustainable practices: 100% renewable energy, 100% waste recycled or reused, created an educational centre for guests, a transformational working centre for collaborators and an awareness centre for both guests and collaborators, use only non-motorised vehicles, and so much more… They have also fostered community building in town through the MANIFESTO: YO AMO BACALAR, boosting awareness of the urgent need to protect the water quality in the lagoon and the conservation of natural environment in the jungle.
