1) The Pomác forest was under threat of illegal agriculture, logging and other clandestine activities. 2) In order to combat these problems the Peruvian government stepped in and evicted the people illegally exploiting the land. Afterwards through a joint partnership the government implemented actions to restore the degraded areas of affected ecosystems. This helped to recover the forest, generate sustainable activities through the use of natural resources and ecosystem services of the Bosque de Pomac Historic Sanctuary and develop, strengthen, and position tourism activity in the Natural Protected Area.
