Together for a new standard in biodiverse Green Beaches

Beaches in The Netherlands make for extremely popular destinations, which requires heavy maintenance, often at the detriment of nature. Through effective cooperation between municipality, local communities and NGOs, which often “speak different local”, a new way of biodiverse beach maintenance was created. In 2021, Goerree-Overflakkee was awarded the first Green Beach with a Green Beach Pennant in The Netherlands and worldwide. And two new Green Beaches are “under construction”.
